Between 2009 and 2023, the number of breweries in France increased by a factor of over 7. The craft beer and microbrewery phenomenon has largely contributed to this new brewing boom across the country. Indeed, in 2022, microbreweries represented the overwhelming majority of the total number of French breweries (2,300 microbreweries out of 2,500 active breweries).
