The number of active beer breweries in Czechia has increased significantly since 2008, rising from 128 to 617 by 2019 before declining to 599 in 2020. This is a significant increase from the previous year's 488 active beer breweries. The number of breweries did not change in 2021. Czech beer has been brewed for more than a thousand years, with the first brewery opening in 993 AD.

In 2019, beer production reached its peak in Czechia with over 21.6 million hectoliters produced that year. However, the following two years saw a sharp decline with production dropping to 19.6 million hectoliters in 2021. Of this, approximately 5.2 million hectoliters were exported, with 75 percent arriving in other European Union nations. The country produces various styles of beer, but it is most famous for Pilsner, which originates from the city of Plzeň.
