The number of payment transactions at point of sale (POS) terminals with cards issued in Czechia increased between 2000 to 2023. As of 2023, over 1.5 billion payments with local cards were made in the country. Just the year before, this number was at around 1.37 billion payments, proof of a strong increase. At the same time, the amount of cards with a payment function also rose in Czechia, amounting to 13.8 million cards in 2022.
