The amount of payment transactions at point of sale (POS) terminals with cards issued in the Eurozone countries has been on the rise between 2000 and 2023. The number of payments at terminals increased from nearly 33 billion local card payments in 2018 to over 55.7 billion in 2023. This development goes hand in hand with the rise in POS terminals in the Eurozone.
