The amount of payment cards issued in Lithuania from 2000 to 2020 had been steadily declining over time, up until 2020 where a sharp increase was observed. The number of issued cards with a payment function amounted to approximately 3.2 million in 2019 and surged by over 10 million to 13.75 million cards in 2020. In Lithuania, cash usage is still relatively important. As of 2019, around half of all payments in the country were done in cash money (48.8 percent).
