The per capita amount of e-money purchase transactions made in the European Union from 2000 to 2020 gradually rose: a steady increase in the use of e-money as a payment method took place during this period of time. In 2019, an average of 9.1 payment transactions were done by individuals living in the EU through e-money purchase transaction. E-money payments have risen year on year in the European union.
