In France, the number of direct debit transactions between 2000 and 2023 increased over time, despite some fluctuations. There were approximately 4.6 billion payments made through direct debit in 2023, compared to 3.10 billion in 2013. Yet, this was still less than 5 billion transactions observed in 2021, which was the peak value during this period.
