Market share of alcohol sales in the Netherlands 2015

This statistic displays the market share of alcohol sales in the Netherlands in 2015, by sales channel. In this year, sales of alcohol from supermarkets held the largest share of the market at 53 percent. Approximately 25 percent of the alcohol was sold in liquor stores. As this statistic on the alcohol consumption in the Netherlands shows, the majority of the Dutch men and women drink alcohol. Approximately 81 percent of the Dutch men and 72 percent of the Dutch women drink alcohol. More life time abstainers are found among the Dutch women: roughly 15 percent of the respondents to this recent survey said they do not drink alcohol at all. Heavy drinking however is not very common in the Netherlands. Approximately eight percent of the Dutch men and women regularly drink too much alcohol according to this survey.
