Fashion market share in Europe 2014, by country
Details of the fashion market turnover in each of these nations shows that the combined turnover figures of Germany, the United Kingdom and Italy amounted to 181.3 billion euros in 2014. Germany accounted for 64.5 billion euros, the United Kingdom generated 62.3 billion euros, and turnover in Italian fashion market retail came to 54.5 billion euros. From third placed Italy, there is a significant gap to the next nation, with France turning over 38.6 billion euros.
Just as it is in other retail industries, online shopping is having a significant impact on the shape of fashion retail. Germany, for example, saw a 28 percent revenue change from 2015 to 2016. The United Kingdom saw an increase of 8.1 percent, compared to the European average of a 16.7 percent increase in revenue from online fashion retail.
