Entrepreneurial life cycle conditions in Western Europe 2014

This statistic presents the assessment of conditions of three entrepreneurial life cycle phases - stand up, start up and scale up - in Western Europe as of 2014. With an average score of 3.4 (5.0 being the highest), the conditions were perceived to be slightly better for promoting an entrepreneurship and starting a business, that is, the stand up and start up phases compared to the scale up phase of the entrepreneurship life cycle.

The three phases of the the life cycle of an innovation driven entrepreneurial venture – stand up, start up and scale up - are defined by the report Fostering Innovation-Driven Entrepreneurship in Europe in the following manner:
Stand up – Promoting the attitudes and skills required to mobilize Europeans with both the desire and the ability to create scalable entrepreneurial ventures.
Start up – Gathering the resources to start a business, with a particular focus on access to capital for entrepreneurs across the European Union.
Scale up – Enabling ventures to scale, with a particular focus on collaborations that simultaneously improve the innovation capacity of all partners to create growth and jobs across the region.
