According to a survey conducted in 2016, almost 60 percent of Italians claimed to have reduced their consumption of meat. This result seems to be confirmed by the actual per capita consumption of pig meat, which decreased by 0.8 kilograms between 2016 and 2022.
A common trend ?
In regard to pig meat, the behavior of Italian consumers does not differ that much from the one of French and Germans. According to these data, Europeans were more and more aware of the consequences of high meat consumption.
