After peaking at 484 in 2019—before the pandemic—the number of cinema screens in Denmark increased to a record 487 in 2023. This marked the highest number of screens ever recorded, surpassing the late 2010s and early 2020s figures, which were previously only comparable to those seen in the early 1980s, when screens ranged between 453 and 475. Meanwhile, the movie theaters across Denmark sold approximately 9.7 million tickets in 2023.
