This data displays the distribution of different types of TV reception in households in Germany from 2008 to 2023. As households can use more than one type of reception at the same time, the sum for each year can exceed 100 percent. In 2023, roughly 42 percent of German TV households used a satellite connection.

Figures for 2023 were based on 38.78 million TV households in Germany.
The source adds the following information: "Since this survey is focused on the method of TV reception in households, TV sets that are connected to a shared satellite TV device and do not have a separate receiver (SMATV-CH households) are counted as cable TV. Accordingly, only TV sets with an individual satellite receiver are considered using satellite reception."
