Outbound tourism volume from Denmark 2010-2022
In 2022, around 6.04 million overnight outbound trips were made by travelers from Denmark. That was less than the figure of the previous year. In the past decade, the year 2016 had the highest volume of outbound tourism from the Nordic country, surpassing 9.6 million departures in total.
Expenditure on outbound trips
Over the past years, the per capita expenditure on outbound leisure trips from Denmark also increased. In 2020, Danes spent on around ten thousand Danish kroner per person for a holiday trip abroad with at least four overnight stays. That was over four thousand kroner more compared to 2013.
Favorite holiday destinations
When going on vacation, Spain is the favorite destination among Danes. In 2020, roughly 14 percent of all outbound trips made by Danes were notably in the Iberian Peninsula. Norway and Sweden were tied for the second most popular country to visit among the Danes, accounting for 11 percent each of all trips abroad in 2020.
