Homeowners checks before hiring a tradesmen in the UK 2015

The statistic shows the checks that homeowners carry out before hiring a tradesman in the United Kingdom (UK) as of April 2015, by activity. The most important check carried out was a personal recommendation of the handyman by someone the homeowner knew well: family, friends or neighbors. Approximately 81 percent of the sample resorted to recommendations, whereas 79 percent paid attention to the fact, that a contractor could specify the cost of their work up-front. The fourth and fifth most important checks carried out both involved the internet, with 63 percent of people searching online for reviews and 61 percent searching for the tradesman's website.
