Scope: individuals aged 15 and older, living in an ordinary household in France (including overseas departments and territories).

*CEP (Certificat d'études primaires): diploma awarded at the end of elementary primary education. It was discontinued in 1989.

**BEP (Brevet d'études professionnelles)and CAP (Certificat d'aptitude professionnelle): 2-year programs following lower secondary school.
DNB (Diplôme national du brevet): national exam taken at the end of lower secondary school.

*** Baccalauréat: diploma taken at the end of the lycée (high school), which is required to pursue studies at the university.
