The statistic shows the value of best-in-class investment strategy on Swedish ethical funds market from 2011 to 2017. Investments in companies, that were leaders in meeting environmental, social and governance development criteria, amounted to approximately 86 billion euros in 2011, decreased nearly by half to 48 billion euros in 2013 and further down to approximately 11 billion euros as of 2015. However in 2017 investments grew to 25.42 billion euros.

The source adds further comments: "Due to European diversity, the wide definition of responsible investment is any type of investment process that combines investors’ financial objectives with their concerns about Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) issues. Best-in-Class (positive screening) assets typically involve selecting the top share of companies within a sector using ESG criteria. For example, a portfolio manager might restrict the investable universe to the top 50 percent based on an ESG rating screen. Other Best-in-Class methods also exist (e.g. Best-in-Universe, Best-in-Effort)."
