The management consulting industry in South Africa is much sought after and is also one of the most powerful forces shaping organizational strategy. South Africa remains one of the strongest economies in the African continent with robust business and industrial activities across many sectors such as e-Commerce, media & entertainment and mining, among others, all of which are driving demand for strategic consulting services. Revenues generated from business and management consultancy activities in the country, which witnessed slow growth during 2011-2016 are expected to grow at a moderate pace during 2018-2023, from 16.5 billion U.S. dollars to 20.6 billion in 2023.
South Africa’s advisory industry is mature in terms of both services and operations with most of the top management consulting firm such as McKinsey, BCG and Bain & Company having their offices in the country.
McKinsey, which is one of the leading consulting firms globally, was one of the first to start business in South Africa with its first office opening in Johannesburg in 1995, soon after the abolishment of Apartheid. Till now, it has worked on over 1,000 projects in the country and has a diverse workforce from over 39 nationalities.
