Best-selling passenger car brands in the Netherlands 2023
In 2023, Volkswagen was the best-selling passenger car brand in the Netherlands. The Volkswagen Group sold approximately 35,000 VW-badged passenger cars on the Dutch market, up roughly 34.6 percent year-on-year. The second and third brands in the ranking were both Asian makes: Kia and Toyota recorded approximately 33,500 and 25,600 sales in the country that year, respectively
Electric car market shows dynamism
Meanwhile, Tesla's sales rose nearly fourfold between 2022 and 2023. The electric vehicle maker had previously reached the third position in the ranking, most likely as a result of an added tax advantage for business lease. That said, electric cars continued to gain market share in the Netherlands. Among Volkswagen's best-selling vehicles were the fully-electric models ID.3 and ID.4. The ID.3 was the fourth all-electric car model in circulation in the Netherlands in July 2024.Tesla's Model 3 topped the ranking that year.

Volkswagen's leading position is confirmed by the market share of Volkswagen in the Dutch passenger car market. About every eighth car sold in the Netherlands is a Volkswagen car. The company reached a share of 12.5 percent in 2020.
