Insurance companies in Poland
In 2022, 53 insurance companies were authorized to conduct insurance business in Poland, and all of them conducted operations. Twenty-four companies were active in life insurance domain. The remaining thirty-four enterprises, including one reinsurance company, provided personal and non-life insurance services. Over the years, a decreasing trend can be observed in the number of insurance companies across the country, both in the life insurance and non-life insurance sectors, respectively.
Employment in the Polish insurance sector
The average annual employment in insurance companies in 2018 was measured at 28,626 full-time equivalents. The increase in employment was about three percent compared to 2017. The reduction in the number of employees in insurance and reinsurance companies during 2018 mostly affected to the key positions. Mainly, the fall in employment was noted for managerial, consultant and actuary positions. The most significant decline in employment was recorded among professionals working as actuaries, with over 86 percent reduction in these positions in 2018 compared to 2017.
