Assets of all financial institutions in Spain 2008-2016, by institution

This statistic illustrates the value development of assets (financial assets when available, otherwise total assets) for all financial institutions in Spain from 2008 to 2016, broken down by main types of financial institution. It can be seen that the total assets of banks in Spain decreased overall during this period, from a value of more than 4.3 trillion U.S. dollars in 2008 to a total value of almost 2.66 trillion U.S. dollars as of 2016. Although this was the case, the total assets of all financial corporations in Spain fluctuated during the period under observation, with the largest recorded value in the period under observation being found in the year 2009.
