Most of the asylum seekers in the U.S. came from Latin American countries, most notably Venezuela and Colombia. Moreover, hundreds of thousands have fled the civil war in Sudan, which explains the high number of asylum seekers in Chad that year. In addition, temporary protection was the most common form of asylum granted.
