Passenger car registrations in France 2010-2020, by segment

In 2020, 59 percent of the passenger cars sold in France were economy and low range vehicles, which amounted to around 974,000 registrations. In the last decade, passenger cars in the economy and low range segment accounted for the largest share of registrations while premium vehicles were sold the least in the country. Registrations decreased in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, down 21.9 percent for economy and low range cars. Premium car sales were the most affected by the pandemic, down 34.7 percent, which corresponds with the global luxury car market trend.
