Czechia: household electricity prices 2020

Household electricity prices in Czechia average 17.95 euro cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh) in the second half of 2020 for consumers using between 2.500 and 5.000 kWh. This constituted a drop by about half an euro cent in price since the first half of 2020. Nevertheless, the price of the second half of 2020 was thereby still significantly above the yearly average Czech households paid between 2010 and 2019, when households paid between than 12 and 15 euro cents per kWh. Czechia has one of the most expensive electricity prices in Central and Eastern Europe, however, it still ranks below the average household electricity price in the EU.

Electricity generation

Over the past two decades electricity generation in Czechia has slightly increased. However, it falls behind on many fellow European Union member states in terms of renewable energy adaption, still relying heavily on fossil fuels. Less than 14 percent of Czechia's power mix was derived from renewable source.to 10.05 euro cents.
