This statistic presents the sources of prepaid cards among underbanked households in the United States in 2017. It was found that 12.4 percent of the U.S. underbanked households (having an account at an insured institution, but using financial services and products from non-bank, alternative financial services) acquired prepaid cards through a Government agency.
Sources of prepaid cards among underbanked households in the United States in 2017
Total number of survey respondents: 35,217. Among households which used prepaid card in the previous 12 months. Unbanked households are those without an account at an insured institution. Underbanked households have an account at an insured institution, but have also obtained financial services and products from non-bank, alternative financial services (AFS) providers in the last 12 months. Note: Bars sum to more than 100 percent because households with multiple prepaid cards were asked to select all sources of their cards.
