In 2023, the biggest European insurance group by insurance revenue was the German company Allianz, with over 91 billion euros. France's AXA took the second position with insurance revenue of around 81 billion euros. In terms of leading insurance markets in Europe, the United Kingdom ranked first with the highest value of premiums written, unsurprisingly followed by France and Germany.
