In 2024, 32.2 percent of the United Kingdom's accommodation and food sector workforce were on a zero-hours contract, the highest of any industry. The rate of zero-hour employees in health and social work was the second-highest, at 16.1 percent, compared with the public administration industry, which had just 2.4 percent of people working on a zero-hours arrangement.
