Primark has increased its global presence since 2008, and more than doubly so. As of 2024, there were 451 Primark store locations worldwide. The clothing retailer’s biggest expansion happened between 2016 and 2017, adding 30 stores to its portfolio including new locations in new markets such as the United States.
Low prices, high revenue
Primark is a value retailer, meaning the company sets its clothing prices at the lower end of the scale to make them affordable for all customery. Over the decade, the retailer has delivered strong revenue figures, making it the most successful division of Associated British Foods. Revenue fell as a result of coronavirus restrictions in financial years 2020 and 2021. In 2024 revenues had almost returned to pre-pandemic levels.
Primark's popularity
Primark was voted one of the most popular clothing brands with British consumers in a survey conducted in the second quarter of 2024. The brand came seventh, ahead of Dr. Martens and Timberland, but behind sporting goods giants Nike and Adidas.
