Magazines ranked by circulation in Germany Q1 2024
Several of the magazines with the highest circulation in Germany were TV guides, such as TV 14 and TV Digital. Each is published by some of Germany’s and Europe’s most successful media companies.
Highs and lows
Several other TV program guides rank among the most printed German magazines, reflecting the fact that television remains one of the most used mediums in Germany. Daily TV viewing time has also remained high during recent years. It has become a tradition to have a TV guide lying beside the television set, within easy reach. However, while the aforementioned magazines largely papered the German magazine landscape, almost all magazines have suffered circulation losses as consumers turn towards social media and the internet for updates on various topics that interest them. This decrease in purchasing is highlighted in the lower revenue of the magazine market in Germany.
Magazine flipping
The leading magazines in Germany were ADAC Motorwelt, Prisma, and Bild am Sonntag with TV guides, typically a popular choice, ranking a lot lower. However, another demographic for which there are magazines specifically produced is children. The future of this is uncertain as digital forms of media have become more commonly used as entertainment for kids.
