During a 2019 survey, it was found that 24 percent of U.S. grandparents used video chat to connect with their grandchildren. Video chat was the third-most popular communication channel between grandparents and their grandchildren, ranking behind the telephone and texting, which had a 46 and 28 percent usage rate respectively.
