Between the third quarter of 2019 and the second quarter of 2020, nearly 168,900 education apps were released worldwide, driven by coronavirus-related school and campus closings. Gaming still remained the largest app category in terms of releases with close to 289,000 app releases. In total, over 2 billion apps were released worldwide during the measured period.
