A survey conducted among Chinese high-net-worth individuals in early 2024 revealed that 37 percent of respondents were willing to send their child or children to study abroad to get a university degree. Only three percent thought this should be done as early as in a primary school.

The survey was conducted among 750 respondents with personal assets of over ten million yuan. 47 percent of respondents were from tier-1 cities, 53 percent were from new tier-1 and tier-2 cities. The respondents' average age was 36 years old, and the average household assets of respondents were 45 million yuan. The average number of real estate owned by respondents was three, and the average living space was 270 square meters.
