Poles enjoy various social media sites. As of fall 2013, 82 percent of respondents in Poland reported accessing Facebook in the past month, while 72 percent accessed YouTube. In terms of platform usage, a heavy Facebook user in Poland would spend an average of 18.8 hours watching YouTube content and 82.6 hours browsing their Facebook newsfeed.
Poles’ favorite social media
In 2020, there were over 19 million Facebook users in Poland, whereas its messaging app, Messenger, had 16 million users mostly aged between 25 to 34. In terms of access, mobile phones were the most popular devices used to visit the leading social media platform. Video posts were the most engaging kind of Facebook content, followed by image posts. The highest share of the social media advertising audience consisted of users aged 25 and 34 years old – the same age group that dominated the Messenger app.
Characteristics of Facebook and YouTube users
In 2019, Facebook was most popular among Poles aged 25 to 34 years old, though women mostly preferred it. Moreover, most of the photo-sharing platform users also had a primary education background and resided in the countryside. On the other hand, YouTube was dominated by men, who accounted for almost 58 percent of all users. Finally, 28 percent of the video-sharing platform users lived in the countryside, mostly from a primary school education background, as was the case with the social networking leader, Facebook.

Approximately 1000+ individuals were surveyed in Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Spain, Great Britain and the United States of America, and approximately 500+ individuals were surveyed in Argentina, Belgium, Poland, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Sweden and Turkey.
Data has been weighted to the known national populations.
