Revenue of Gazprom 2014-2023
Gazprom's revenue from sales of goods, products, work, and services worldwide reached approximately 8.5 trillion Russian rubles in 2023, having decreased by around 27 percent from the previous year. Gazprom is one of the largest natural gas extractors in the world. The company was created in 1989 after the Soviet Ministry of Gas Industry became a corporation. Its headquarters are located in Moscow.
Gazprom takes its roots in the Ministry of Gas Industry of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR). Large reserves of natural gas in Siberia and the Ural and Volga regions initiated the Soviet Union's push for gas production in the 1960s and 1970s. In 1989, the ministry was converted to Gazprom, a state concern dedicated to gas production, and in 1993, it became privatized. However, at the beginning of the 2000s, the country's authorities imposed tighter control on oligarch companies, and Gazprom's majority was held by the Russian government.
