In Nintendo's fiscal year 2023 (April 2022 to March 2023), approximately 120 thousand units of gaming software for the Wii U console were sold worldwide. The Wii U gaming console was launched by Nintendo in late 2012 as a successor to the immensely popular Wii and is part of the eighth generation of gaming consoles.
