This statistic shows the value share of alcoholic drink sales in France for the 12 month period ending December 27, 2015, by category. Wine has the largest share of the alcoholic beverage market in France, with a 44.1 percent share of all sales value, followed by spirits at 33.1 percent. A majority of French consumers prefer red wine, although the dominant alcoholic beverage in France is currently experiencing a decrease in consumption with annual volumes of wine consumed falling year on year. The share of people that are regular consumers of wine has decreased in favor of casual and non-consumers . Beer consumption, on the other hand, has remained steady, with a majority of sales done in the off-trade.
