Number of HBO subscribers in the U.S. 2009-2021
As of December 2021, HBO had an estimated 47 million domestic subscribers, including subscribers to HBO Max. HBO's subscription-based on-demand service HBO Max, launched in May 2020, had around 80 million global viewers as of 2021. As a result of growing subscriber numbers, the company's subscription revenue has naturally increased. In 2021, this revenue reached 7.72 billion U.S. dollars for the first time, an increase of over 1.5 billion U.S. dollars from 2020.
