This statistic presents reasons for delaying retirement according to employed and retired workers in the United Kingdom as of 2014. The overwhelming majority of the sample reported reasons related to career enjoyment and staying active as the main reason for delaying retirement, with 73 percent of respondents saying their main reason was "I wanted to keep active and keep my brain alert".
