Although a proportion of drinkers across all ages chose ale, there was a correlation between age and ale preference, with a higher share of those in the older age categories preferring ale over lager.

Respondents were asked "which kind of beer do you prefer?", with the options ale, lager or neither/don't know. The data is for the share responding ale within each age category.
