UK share of global interest rates of over-the-counter derivatives 1995-2016

This statistic shows the share of interest rates over-the-counter derivatives turnover in international financial markets assigned to United Kingdom (UK) from 1995 to 2016, presented triennially. Derivatives are financial instruments, securities, in which the price of the security depends on the price of the underlying asset. They can either be over-the-counter (OTC, like presented) or listed. OTCs trade off major stock exchanges, via private contracts that are traded between two parties without going through intermediaries. The ones presented in this statistics are derivatives of interest rates. The UK's share of interest rates derivatives turnover rose to the level of 46 percent in 2010 and 49 percent in 2013. It decreased to 39 percent in 2016.
