This statistic shows the Scottish independence referendum voting intention from August to September 2014. Over 1,000 Scottish adults were asked if they think Scotland should be an independent country. With the referendum on Scottish independence looming, when Scotland will vote 'yes' or 'no' for independence from the United Kingdom, there is naturally a great deal of campaigning taking place from both sides of the issue. The Scottish National Party want a completely autonomous Scotland whilst the Conservative led United Kingdom government is fighting for the centuries old union to continue. The first survey taken at the beginning of August 2014 indicated that the majority of Scottish respondents will vote against independence. In the end Scotland votes to remain part of the United Kingdom by 55 percent to 45 percent.
