Sales of top toothpaste brands in the U.S. 2019

In 2019, the Colgate toothpaste brand sold almost 80 million units in the United States, while Crest 3D White sold just over 60 million. A paste or gel dentifrice, toothpaste is an accessory used to help clean, maintain, and prevent tooth and gum disease.

Leading toothpaste brands

Crest 3D White was also a leading brand in terms of sales: the toothpaste brand generated over 260 million U.S. dollars’ worth of sales in the United States in 2019. Crest 3D White ranked first that year, generating approximately 2.8 percent higher sales numbers than the runner-up, Sensodyne Pronamel. This brand’s U.S. sales numbers increased by an estimated five percent compared to the previous year.

Average daily use of toothpaste

When surveyed, approximately 120 million Americans reported that they brushed their teeth, i.e., used toothpaste, twice per day in 2019. A considerable number of people in the United States, namely about 70 million, used toothpaste four or more times each day.
