MFI's net lending to public sector UK 2018-2020

This statistic illustrates the amounts of sterling and foreign currency lending to public sector in the United Kingdom (UK) by monetary financial institutions (MFIs) from August 2018 to July 2020. Net lending is an important financial measure and is calculated as the difference between deposits and lending in either sterling or foreign currency, in this case both sterling and foreign currency are taken into account. There was a significant increase in net lending to the public sector from March 2020 onwards.
