Psychotropic drug use and mental health professional visit in adolescents 2005-2010
This statistic displays the percentage of adolescents in the United States, between the ages of 12 and 19, who have taken psychotropic medication in the past month and seen a mental health professional in the last year between 2005 and 2010. Of those surveyed, 42.8 percent of adolescents reported taking one psychotropic drug in the last month had also seen a mental health professional in the last year. Psychotropic medication is used to treat clinical psychiatric symptoms or mental disorders such as depression.
