Maruti Suzuki dominates the Indian passenger car market with most of the top selling models. Maruti Suzuki's hatchback cars notched up the highest number of sales. The Swift, including its next-generation version, had a sales tally of more than 203.4 thousand units in 2023.
Two-wheeler segment dominates motor vehicle market
During 2023, passenger cars only made up a small proportion of motor vehicles sold in India, while two-wheeled vehicles, such as scooters or motorcycles, accounted for the largest number of units sold. Indian customers purchased more than 15.8 million two-wheelers in financial year 2023.
