In 2023, Wayfair had retail sales of approximately 10.47 billion U.S. dollars in the United States. Williams-Sonoma was ranked second, with sales of about 7.5 billion U.S. dollars that year. 

The home goods market in the United States

The home goods market consists of the manufacture, distribution, and retail of home furniture, cookware, gardening equipment, and household accessories. The home décor market in the United States alone has been forecasted to generate 43.3 billion U.S. dollars in revenue by 2028. The e-commerce segment of this market is also anticipated to witness growth over the next few years, with many consumers making their purchases online instead of at a physical home goods retailer.

Furniture retail sales in the United States

In 2023, over half of consumers surveyed shared that they would spend up to 1,000 U.S. dollars on furniture. The previous year, the average expenditure per consumer unit on furniture amounted to around 746.14 U.S. dollars. While Wayfair took the leading position amongst brick-and-mortar stores, consumers turned to Amazon, Home Depot, and Walmart when shopping for furniture online.
