This statistic compares the annual mileage for petrol and diesel cars in England in 2015 by trip purpose. For all trip purposes diesel cars have travelled further than petrol cars. Both fuel types have a similar pattern in terms of which trip purposes have the highest mileage. In total diesel cars covered four thousand miles more than petrol cars.
In 2015, both petrol and diesel vehicles travelled the furthest while being used for private purposes, representing 62 percent and 49 percents of miles covered for both types of vehicle respectively.
