Leading global pharmaceutical products by projected sales 2026

Keytruda, a pharmaceutical product owned by Merck & Co, is forecast to generate around 27 billion U.S. dollars in sales in 2026. Other prominent pharmaceutical products, such as Eliquis and Opdivo, are also expected to do well that year.

Biotech companies

In 2020, Amgen was among the world’s top pure play biotech company, based on market capitalization. The American company had a total market cap of almost 130 billion U.S. dollars that year. In terms of R&D expenditure, Swiss company Roche led the 2019 rankings, spending over 11 billion U.S. dollars. BMS and Johnson & Johnson stood in second and third place and spent a total of 9.4 billion and 8.8 U.S. dollars on research and development combined that year, respectively.

Gilead Sciences

Gilead Sciences, which is headquartered in California, United States, generated 24.7 billion U.S. dollars of revenue in 2020. Gilead Sciences’ top product was Biktarvy, which made 29 percent of the company’s total revenue in 2020.
