In 2021, the rate of newly diagnosed malignant cancer cases (excluding non-melanoma skin cancer) in England progressively increased for higher group ages for both genders. The age group most affected was the one aged 85 years and older. This statistic shows the rate of newly diagnosed cases of cancer per 100,000 population in England in 2021, by age group and gender.

It can take up to five years for cancer registrations in England to reach full completeness due to ongoing accrual of late registrations. While further changes may occur after five years as a result of later diagnostic testing, such late changes are uncommon.

Figures are for all malignant cancers, excluding non-melanoma skin cancer (NMSC).
