Between 2013 and 2019, the share of residents in England who believe ships and ferries to have the most overall impact on climate change has doubled from three percent to six percent. The share of those seeing passenger cars as the main culprit stayed relatively constant at 23 percent.
Opinion on modes of transport with greatest overall impact on climate change in England from 2013 to 2019
Until 2017, questions regarding transportation and climate change were asked as part of the British Social Attitudes (BSA) survey and included respondents from the whole of Great Britain. From 2019 onwards, questions were asked as part of the National Travel Attitudes Study (NTAS) for respondents from England. Figures from previous years were adjusted to reflect answers from English respondents.
